Punt Road Shiraz 2021 750ml

Punt Road Shiraz was grown on the Napoleone Vineyard, with the fruit hand-harvested from Block 5 (70%) and Block 8 (30%). It has a south-easterly aspect and soils are alluvial loam on a clay base. The must, including about 3% Viognier, was fermented with indigenous yeasts and the wine matured in oak puncheons (10% new)

2021 was a very promising vintage. Plentiful frosty nights and heavy rains in winter delayed budburst, and spring continued in this mild (and wet) fashion. We had excellent canopies with slowly developing bunches.

The mild conditions persisted into January and February. Warm, sunny days with crisp nights and mornings. This was perfect for slow ripening, delicate flavours and acid retention. There was no disease threat from rain, and we harvested at leisure. - Tim Shand, Punt Road
