Heartwood & TIB Stables Eucalyptus Oil & Butterscotch Dew Single Malt Whisky 500ml

This one took us by surprise. We first tasted it at the bond store about a year before Tim sent us another sample. The moment we tried it, we were transported back to the Eucalyptus lollies of our childhood - wrapped in clear plastic with that distinctive, oily outer layer. Then, on the finish, there was a delightful hint of butterscotch.

Tim mentioned it was unbalanced, and he was right. The whisky boasted two brilliant flavours: though quiet on the nose, it shone on the palate and finish, albeit somewhat disjointed. True to form, Tim decided to “bash it around” as he puts it, and bash it he did.

We started with 15 litres of this playful dram, but once Tim masterfully refined it, only 24 bottles remained in the small vat. The whisky hails from a single cask previously used for port, a single malt, and was bottled at cask strength. It was placed into the cask in September 2018 and bottled in November 2023 at an ABV of 59.8%.

A small, playful batch, this dram showcases the spirit's richness. It's thick and luscious, with the whisky holding the cask influence in check.
