Islay’s first distillery, Bowmore, have perfected the process of making single malt Scotch whisky for over 240 years – they still even have their own malt barn. At their No. 1 Vaults (their unique warehouse) at the edge of the Atlantic, their casks absorb Islay sea air and, in turn, so does the whisky. This means whisky with fresh sea air on the nose, as well as that warm Islay peaty smokiness.
